Twitter Geo-Location Usage

Since the point is to use the social media entities Twitter and Facebook it made me think of how else could they be used beside spamming the audience with request links?

Well Twitter does have geo-location api which could be used for the travel mechanism within the story. One crew member could be designated as the guide which then marks the application to query the user’s twitter account for the geo-location distance traveled. But in tandem to using geolocation for distance traveled it can be used to unlock or supply the crew with supplies for their journey.

Facebook also has a geo-location api too so the user does not necessarily need a twitter account but they would need either one in order to be the guide. According to this post, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5628647/geolocation-apis-simplegeo-vs-citygrid-vs-publicearth-vs-twitter-vs-foursquare, on stackoverflow it seems that Facebook utilizes Factual for geo-location. To decrease the scope it would be wise to just stick with Twitter’s geo-location api.

On a side note as I was looking through sites that use interactive storytelling I found this http://www.upsideout.co.uk/content/sen.html

The video is rather heartwarming and gives a good overview of the project’s mission. There are some good goals that they have listed within the film and I will take into consideration.
