Upon my search for what could be wrong or what can be improved for interactive stories I am finding the following commonalities amongst the patents and claims:
Stories
- The story line is boring if kept linear. Adding the ability to alter the story line adds excitement and possibly intrigue from the end user.
- Continuous story lines would be beneficial thus allowing the user to explore the story world with follow up adventures and work on memory retention.
- New or mixed in characters would add variety to timeless tales and add that tiny bit of alteration to the storyline.
Interaction
Controls for interaction with the story are limited to the device. Such interaction could be click, touch, sound, video relay or even gesture recognition.
What design aspect of interactive stories need to be improved?
So the question above is still far from answered but I feel that I may be focusing on a general problem that ail most interactive stories.
