New quarter and the start of the thesis journey. This quarter will help me hone in on what my thesis will be and allow myself to discover where my focus truly lies.<\/p>\n

Hi, my name is Alicia Scarborough and I am graduate student pursuing my Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) in Interactive Media and Game Programming.<\/p>\n

So what are my qualifications\/past experience?<\/p>\n

I have an associates degree in Computer Science with the main focus on Computer Programming from Gwinnett Technical College. Later I earned my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Interactive Media Design at the Art Institute of Atlanta. On top of those degrees I have over seven years of experience working in the web industry with the latest technology. My current job is with Northrop Grumman working as a web designer for the CDC’s Emerging Infectious Diseases journal. That job requires my knowledge of 508 compliance while making the designs pleasing to the eye. My past job was at an Ad\/Media agency that was very demanding on timelines with complex projects due as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

Such work that I have had the pleasure of coding was the mobile version of Verizon Wireless (it has changed a lot since its first launch)<\/p>\n

My abilities are hybrid of designer and developer which is why the intrigue of code catches my attention while it splits when a new design trend is introduced to the web-sphere.<\/p>\n

I do maintain quite a few sites but my main one is Dragonrage-Seishi Studios<\/a> which is mostly my anime stuff. The framework is WordPress with a custom template that I built that is responsive in design. The comic framework for the comics of the site is also custom for I did not want to use ComicPress so that I could figure out the mechanics of creating a comic framework.<\/p>\n

Over this past summer I was called upon by a colleague of mine to create and build their portfolio site which can be viewed at http:\/\/ukuleliam.com\/<\/a>. I used HTML5, jQuery and a horizontal parallax plugin for his site. The horizontal parallax had to be re-written to work with a later version of jQuery so that I could reduce the amount of JavaScript loaded onto his site.<\/p>\n

Well I will stop here for now… I will post later with all the other projects that I have worked on with their descriptions.<\/p>\n
