This happens a lot and I myself will claim that I am guilty of doing this for many of the games on Facebook for I do not want to bother my friends with silly game requests.<\/p>\n
The purpose of a collaborative story is to promote teamwork. It could be an option to let users go down an alternate rabbit hole but they will be met with many more challenges that would be easier to complete if they had the help of friends. Should the “I want to do this on my own” option even be a choice? What if some of the teammates drop out of the interactive story? Does the story refuse to continue until those users come back or is there a way to continue without them? This problem reminds me of the scene from the movie Jumanji where the future two children try to continue to play the game but realize that the board wants the other two players to continue with their turns before they can have their turns again. This in itself can present to be an obstacle and possibly kill the story in its track if one the users decide they cannot work with one another and two if the users get disinterested and leave. There needs to be a solution to help encourage the teamwork amongst the group while discouraging solo-path seekers. One solution would be for those that just feel like they need to go out on their own is to offer solo mission quests that can help the team advance in the story this in itself gives back to the team while giving that one user their own mission to solve without putting the story in jeopardy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
What if there is a user that wants to interact with the story by themselves with no help from others?
